        Senior Amassador with Freshmen: meeting during seminar on Tuesday, September 26th in the Auditorium. 

        Congratulations to our Y-teens president, Kennedy Moore, for winning Homecoming Queen as well as Aaron Armstrong for becoming the King!! Also, a big thank you to all the girls who baked cakes for the Cake Auction. We had a very good night and it would not have been possible without all your hard work!!

        Senior Athletes: See Mrs. Sonntag on Monday for a colored copy of the Homecoming program. 

        Y-Teens: There is a picture of our club tee shirt on our board. It is $15. Please let Mrs. Morales or Ms. Vanderhoof know if you want one. We need the money when you order. 

        Boys - Y-teens needs your help. We are serving the alumni supper and we need a couple more people. If you are free this Saturday from 5-9 pm and are looking for a service project to add to your list for scholarships, you should consider helping us. We know you have the Homecoming dance that evening, but you can be done with plenty of time to get tot the dance.

        FCCLA Members: Please remembers to get your dues paid by October 1st!  

        FCCLA Members:  Remember to turn in your permission slips & money if you wish to attend Fall Leadership Rally or National Cluster Meeting.

        JUNIORS:  the PSAT/NMSQT is October 11th.  It will take place in the library and start at 8:00 a.m.  Make sure to get your admit slips from Tina to miss your 1B and 2B classes that day.  Also, I have some slots open yet. Stop by Mrs. Meyers office to sign up.

        Y-Teens A few announcements:

        Alumni Supper on Saturday: The following people are signed-up to help:  Brooklyn S., Aubrey B., Hailey M., Riley F., Sydney D., Jillian S., Delaney D, Choley M., Riley W., Jade S., Shyanne G.

Remember to wear black pants and a white shirt. You need to be there at 5 pm. Thank you for signing-up. We know it is a busy day.

        FBLA - Reminder that $15 dues will need to be received by Thur, Sept 28 if wanting to join. Thank you for your interest.

        The Corning Opera House is offering a percussion/rhythm class called STOMP on Monday September 25, October 2, Tuesday, October 10, and October 16 at 4 pm for 45 minutes for $40. Participants must be able to read quarter and eighth note rhythms and will be use a variety of everyday items to make music, such as large water bottles, brooms, etc. To sign up call 641.418.8037, teacher De Heaton.

        SENIORS:  Scholarship opportunity:  Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship.  Check it out at this web link "Wendy's Heisman".  October 1st is the deadline.

        Tailgate - The Booster Club is having a tailgate at 6pm for the homecoming game. The meal will consist of Brisket or Ribeye sandwich, beans, homemade potato salad, chips and water.

        ACT test PREP:  The next John Baylor ACT test-prep session will begin on September 25th.  Each session will be 45 minutes and will start at 7:40 each morning (in the success center.) Anyone wishing to improve their ACT scores should plan to attend.  There are twelve session that will run from September 25th through October 10th.  Please see Mrs. Meyers for more information. 

         HS baseball players:  SWCC is hosting a fall baseball camp on Oct 8 10am-2pm.  Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals along with more in-depth drills and player development.  Cost is $60.  Take a brochure from the high school office.  OR check it out online  www.southwesternspartans.com/baseball-camp

        Any senior planning on ISU next year (posted by Mrs. Meyers):  The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholar application is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA. www.financialaid.iastate.edu (select freshman and then FinAidScholar) 

        URGENT MESSAGE FOR SENIORS  FAFSA (Financial Aid application) "help sessions" are available for seniors and their parents in September. FAFSA online starts October 1st.  Two sessions are close:  September 13 in Shenandoah at the IWCC center.  AND,  September 20 in Creston at the SWCC campus.  They both start at 6:00 p.m.  Lots of good information to help you with your FAFSA application. AND, they are free!!

        The largest college fair--GOLDEN CIRCLE COLLEGE FAIR--will be September 24 at the Iowa Center for Higher Education, 2500 Fleur Drive, Des Moines. This web address gives you all the information, http://www.icansucceed.org/index.cfm?nodeID=63571&audienceID=1 .

       There is a Quote Suggestion Jar in the office. Write a quote on the paper provided, if I choose your quote, you get a treat. You have to include who wrote the quote and your name on the paper. I will then write it on my office window! 

        FCCLA:  It's not to late to join!  Dues are  $15.  Please see Mrs. Konecne if you have questions!


         ATTENTION STUDENTS -  IF you ride a moped pay close attention: Passengers are not allowed on mopeds. This is a state LAW. You can and may get ticketed.      

         FYI - The DOT has changed driving days for Adams County. The driving days are Tuesday mornings. To schedule driving times please call the courthouse at 641-322-3210. All students getting school permits have to drive with the DOT and live more that 1 mile from the school. You also need 2 forms from the school, a Certificate of Completion and an Affidavit For School Permit.
