I grew up on a farm near Lohrville, Iowa, and graduated from Lohrville High School. I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Dakota, and my Master's and Specialist's Degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Since I began my career in 1987, I have taught at the elementary school level and coached at both the junior high and varsity levels at South Central Calhoun and Lewis Central Community School Districts (CSD).
I began my school administration career at Putnam County, Missouri, as an elementary principal and assistant superintendent. I am now starting my 31st year as superintendent of schools in Iowa. I have been at: Earlham, Creston, and Keokuk CSDs. Before retiring the first time, I was shared superintendent for 7 years at Sidney, South Page and East Mills CSDs. I am looking forward to my interim superintendent role at Southwest Valley CSD. My wife Rhonda and I live in Creston and have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. All 5 of our children are in education as either an administrator, school psychologist, and/or classroom teachers.
